Kick off the summer with Downtown Days…Streets Alive!, from Friday to Sunday, June 7-9. The three-day festival spans six blocks in the historic and award-winning Downtown Lee’s Summit central business district.
For more than 20 years, Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street has been hosting this family-friendly festival, which has grown into one of the largest in the region, attracting thousands of visitors and residents to the streets of Downtown Lee’s Summit.
Returning to the annual event are many of festival favorites, including live entertainment, the carnival, Kids Street, pony rides, sports trivia contests, Smokin’ on the Summit barbecue competition, dance studio performances, dozens of food options, and much more. Art a’LIVE, Summertime Stage contests, ACCKC Car Show, Lee’s Summit’s Got Talent contestants, Y.E.S. Kids Games, Sit Means Sit Dog Training, and Mad Science shows will return for their second consecutive year.
this year are the Fashion in the Streets show, the 810 Sports Zone, ’80s Night with
Journey and Joan Jett tribute bands, and an ’80s costume contest and mullet
course, what festival would be complete without summertime food and plenty of
vendors? Downtown Days has these bases covered as well. Most importantly,
Downtown Lee’s Summit’s more than 45 shops and restaurants are open throughout
the weekend and welcome visitors into their one-of-a-kind, independently owned
stores. These businesses are one of the main reasons the National Trust for
Historic Preservation recognized Downtown Lee’s Summit with its prestigious
Great American Main Street Award.
Downtown Days is the major fundraiser for Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and historic preservation of Downtown Lee’s Summit. For more information, visit www.downtownls.org or call 816-246-6598.
